Max and August Fischer papers, 1881-1907.

One journal and a ledger (1883-1892) contain accounts of wholesale and retail sales to the Grace Episcopal Church in Bayou Sara, and to prominent families in West Feliciana Parish including the Butler, Doherty, Barrow, Wickliffe, Kilbourne, and Percy families. Three journals (1897-1907) and 5 ledgers (1896-1906) document the operation of the Kenmore Plantation. Entries include accounts with tenants, cotton factors, and wholesale business firms and list merchandise purchased including hardware, food, shoes, and drugs. Business papers (1881-1906) consist of letters, receipts, and account statements which reflect the Fischers' plantation and merchandising activities. The collection includes a few business papers (1900-1906) of Dr. W. A. Holloway of Evergreen Plantation, Plaquemine, Iberville Parish.

At one time, their merchandising business was called Mann, Fischer and Company. The Fischers also operated Kenmore Plantation, Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana.
